Library Lending Privileges

  • Library cards are FREE for residents living within the Library District boundaries.
    • To register, bring in a form of photo identification and a piece of mail listing your current address. Juvenile cards are also available for children ages 5-17, with a parent signature required.
  • Your library card is good at any library within the Illinois Heartland Library System (IHLS). You may also borrow books online via the IHLS SHARE database and have items sent to your local library of choice.
  • Your card also gives you access to Library “On the Go” (libraryonthego.org) where you can borrow e-books, audiobooks music and videos and download them to your computer, e-book reader or other mobile device.

Other Library Resources

  • Photocopier available ($.10 per copy for black and white; $.40 per copy for color).
  • FAX available ($1.00 for first five pages).
  • Free Wi-Fi.
  • Notary Public
  • Adult fiction and non-fiction, children’s fiction and non-fiction, young adult fiction, audio books, DVD videos, magazines, and the Springfield and Tri-City newspapers.
  • Programming, including three monthly reading groups and a monthly craft activity time. The Library also hosts a Summer Reading program each year.
